Need to update multiple profiles at once? The easiest way is to export them to Excel, make your changes, and then reimport the updated file. Here's how to do it step by step:
1. Export the profiles
Start by exporting the profiles you want to edit. If you're not sure how, check out the article Export profiles.
⚠️ Important: The export will only include the profiles visible in your current view. Make sure your filters are correctly set before exporting. |
2. Edit the Excel file
Once you've downloaded the file, you can edit it freely — but be sure to follow the rules outlined in the “Instructions” tab included in the file. For example, dates and numbers must match the required format and some columns have a restricted set of possible answers.
You can make targeted edits to individual rows, or apply bulk changes — for example, replacing all "PENDING" values in the Client Status column with "APPROVED".
3. Understand the “profile-id” column
The exported file includes a column called “profile-id”. This column is not present in the template used to import new profiles — it’s only used to identify existing profiles during updates.
4. Reimport the updated file
When you're done editing, go to the “Profiles” section, click the dropdown and select “Import from Excel”. There you can upload your updated file.
Parallel will use the profile-id column to match and update the correct profiles with your new data — no duplicates, no overwrites of untouched data.
